Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our removal services. Can't find what you're looking for? Just call us.
Pricing
How much do removals cost?
Our man and van service starts from £55/hr. Full house removals are priced based on volume, number of staff required, and distance. We always provide a free, no-obligation fixed quote before you commit to anything.
Are there any hidden charges?
No — our quotes are all-inclusive. We'll confirm exactly what's included before you book. The only scenario where additional charges might apply is if the volume or scope of the job significantly exceeds what was agreed at the quoting stage.
Do you charge extra for stairs or access difficulties?
We'll account for stairs, no-lift flats, and access challenges when we quote. If we know about it upfront, it's included in the price. Please let us know about any potential access issues at the quoting stage.
When is the cheapest time to move?
Mid-week moves (Tuesday–Thursday) and mid-month moves are typically cheaper than Saturdays and month-ends. January and February are the quietest months of the year for removals, so availability and pricing are often better.
Insurance & Protection
Are my belongings insured?
Yes — we carry comprehensive goods-in-transit insurance that covers your belongings during loading, transit, and unloading. We also carry public liability insurance. Ask for details when you book.
What if something is damaged?
In the unlikely event of damage, report it to us in writing within 7 days of your move. We'll work with you and our insurer to resolve it fairly and promptly. We photograph valuable items before moves as standard practice.
What's not covered by removals insurance?
Items you've packed yourself are typically covered for external damage but not for internal breakage (which we can't verify without opening your boxes). Items of extreme value (fine art, jewellery) may need specific agreed cover — speak to us about this.
Booking
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as soon as your moving date is confirmed — ideally 2–4 weeks ahead. Saturday and summer slots fill up particularly quickly. We also accept short-notice bookings when availability allows.
What if my moving date changes?
We understand that in property chains, dates can shift. Contact us as soon as you know and we'll do everything we can to accommodate the change. The more notice, the better.
Do I need to be at both properties?
We recommend someone is present at both collection and delivery addresses, or that you arrange for a trusted person to be there. We can work with key collections and drop-offs in some circumstances — just let us know.
Do you work weekends and bank holidays?
Yes — we work 7 days a week including bank holidays. Weekend availability fills up faster, so please book early for Saturday moves.
The Move
How long does a move take?
A 1-bed flat typically takes 2–4 hours. A 3-bed house takes 5–8 hours. A 5-bed house can take 10–12 hours. These are estimates — the actual time depends on packing preparedness, access, and floor levels. We'll give you a realistic estimate when you book.
Do I need to be fully packed before you arrive?
For a standard move, yes — we expect everything to be boxed and ready. If you'd like us to help with packing, book our professional packing service and we'll arrive on an agreed packing day before your move day.
Can you disassemble and reassemble furniture?
Yes — we disassemble and reassemble beds, wardrobes, and other flat-pack furniture as part of our service at no additional charge. Please let us know at the booking stage if you have unusually complex furniture.
What should I do to prepare for move day?
Have everything packed and clearly labelled by room. Defrost your freezer 24 hours before. Ensure parking is clear for the removal van at both ends. Have your essentials box in your car. And make tea! Our team appreciates it.
Specialist Items
Can you move a piano?
Yes — we have experience moving upright pianos and can accommodate most piano moves with the right team size and equipment. Grand pianos require specific planning; please contact us to discuss in advance.
Can you move antiques and fragile items?
Absolutely. We use professional packing materials including bubble wrap, tissue paper, and double-walled boxes. Please point out antiques, fragile items, and anything of particular value when the team arrives.
What can't you move?
We cannot transport hazardous materials (petrol, gas canisters, certain chemicals), live animals, plants in soil, or perishable foodstuffs. Please contact us if you have any items you're unsure about.
